Clearwater on New Year's Eve means two things: Clearwater Beach packed shoulder to shoulder, or Cleveland Street downtown with cover charges and a long wait at every bar. If that is not your idea of a good night, there is a seated comedy show twenty minutes south that nobody from the beach crowd knows about.
Take US-19 south to Park Boulevard (78th Ave N), head west to 66th Street North, then north a few blocks to 102nd Avenue North. From the beach side, Gulf-to-Bay east to US-19 south is the simplest. Coming down from Countryside or Safety Harbor, McMullen-Booth to Gulf-to-Bay to US-19 avoids the worst of the downtown lights. Plan on about 20 minutes outside rush hour. Free parking in the gym's own lot.
The drive from downtown Clearwater or Countryside is a straight shot down US-19 outside rush hour, and on December 31 the traffic heads the other way, toward the beach. You can park for free, see the whole show, and still be back across the Clearwater line well before the fireworks crowds clog the causeway.
Seating is first come, first served, ringside chairs first and risers behind, so come early. The bar is cash and card. Comedy is adult content and the age policy for the show is posted before tickets go on sale. No recording during the sets, and the venue is a working boxing gym, so stay out of the training areas unless staff wave you in. See the terms of sale for the fine print.
About 11 miles from downtown Clearwater, roughly 20 minutes down US-19 outside rush hour. From Clearwater Beach add 10 to 15 minutes for the causeway.
The Laughing Gorilla comedy show at Battle Zone Boxing in Pinellas Park is a seated stand-up show on December 31, 2026 with six comedians, a cash bar and free parking. Tickets go on sale November 1.
New Year's Eve surge pricing is real everywhere in Tampa Bay. A designated driver and the free lot at the gym is the cheaper plan, or split a ride with a full car.
