Pinellas County has plenty of open mics and a couple of big-name clubs across the bridge, but if you live in Pinellas Park, Largo, Seminole or the north end of St. Pete, a proper night of stand-up usually means a long drive and a two-drink minimum. The Laughing Gorilla is the local answer.
The show runs inside Battle Zone Boxing, a real boxing gym on 102nd Avenue North. On show nights the ring area becomes the stage, the chairs go ringside, the bar opens, and the gym becomes the most unlikely comedy club in Tampa Bay. The first show is New Year's Eve 2026 with headliner Joey B and featured comedian Goopman, plus four comedians battling it out with the crowd as the judge.
We book headliners and the best of the Tampa Bay scene, and the showdown format gives up-and-coming comics a reason to bring their best five minutes.
A boxing gym is made for a crowd. Good sightlines, a real sound system, and a bar at the back.
Minutes from US-19, Park Boulevard and 66th Street. Free parking in the gym's own lot.
Buy online, get a QR code by email, show your phone at the door. No apps to download and no will-call line.
